THE CENTRAL HOUSE

[Welland Tribune, 30 October 1872]

The building next west of the old canal bridge, formerly occupied by Mr. Garden as a store, has been rented and refitted by Mr. Ephraim Hopkins and christened the “Central House,” and will hereafter constitute a first-class saloon and oyster depot. Mr. H. will pay particular attention to the keeping of the best and freshest oysters, which can be had at his place at any and all times, either by the dish, can or keg. The “Central” will no doubt become one of the institutions of the place under “Eph’s” obliging and courteous management.
